I'm running selenium remote control locally from the command line (java -jar selenium-server.jar), and testing a local web site. Since my local web-site uses database connections that are located at the office, I'm connected via VPN.
Internet Explorer ignores proxy-server settings when using VPN and dial-up connections -- you must manually configure dial-up proxy server settings manually.
